Carrie Runde, ND is passionate about delivering health care in a better way. From spending more time with her patients, to employing a holistic medical philosophy, to offering a wider array of treatment options, Dr. Runde believes that her patients deserve exceptional care.
When Dr. Runde was a pre-med student at the University of Pennsylvania, she knew that she was going to practice medicine differently. Even though Dr. Runde had not yet learned about naturopathic medicine, she knew she wanted to be a doctor who utilized nutrition to help her patients improve their health and prevent illness.
Through extensive work in the conventional medical system--working as a research assistant at Penn’s medical school and nursing school, volunteering at Penn’s childrens’ hospital, volunteering at a primary care community clinic in Baltimore, and conducting clinical research at a large hospital in Boston -- Dr. Runde learned the value of conventional medicine. She also realized that she would not receive any integrative medicine or nutrition training in a conventional medical program. These interests lead Dr. Runde to naturopathic medical school at Bastyr University in Seattle. After graduating, Dr. Runde completed a naturopathic residency program in integrative medicine at the GW Center for Integrative Medicine in Washington, DC.
Dr. Runde is an active member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, where she served on their Board of Directors for five years. She works at the state and federal levels to increase public access to natural medicine. Dr. Runde has also served on the Board of the Maryland Naturopathic Doctors Association where she worked to achieve licensure for NDs in the state. Currently, she serves on the Naturopathic Advisory Committee under the Maryland Board of Physicians.
After living in many cities across the country, Dr. Runde is excited to be practicing in her hometown. At CCNH, Dr. Runde welcomes patients of all ages who are looking for a compassionate doctor. Her strengths are working to improve the health of children and working with adults who suffer from fatigue, digestive complaints, hormonal imbalances, or fertility concerns.
